- Form: powder, film, fiber, or small pieces
- Pack in clean, sealed containers
- Label clearly with sample ID and description

- Specify temperature range required
- Inform if sample is hazardous / reactive
- Substrate size: typically 1ร1 cm to 2ร2 cm
- Ensure flat, clean sample surface
